Do you struggle with the disease of “perfectionism”?

You want everything to go perfectly all of the time. You’re really hard on yourself when you don’t perform to your best or you make a mistake. You’ve been working so hard to be a better woman but there are some days that you miss the mark.

That’s me.

There was a point in my life where I was really broken and in a lot of pain. I was selfish, arrogant, angry, prideful and an all around hot mess at times. I’ve worked so hard NOT to be her but there are times where I too fall short, and still make silly mistakes that are reminiscent of that girl.

Who is the girl from your past that you’re fighting against? What mistakes are you beating yourself up about?

I’m no therapist or counselor so I can’t “diagnose” you. But what I do know is that the God who created you loves all of you. Yes, even the crazy girl from your past, the part of you that makes mistakes today and the woman that will still miss the mark tomorrow.

You can be deceived into believing that you’re not good enough to be used by God because of your lack of perfection, wounded soul, or past or current mistakes. I know that feeling all too well.

I know what it feels like to be judged, feel shameful, feel inadequate, and feel like a failure but that’s when I’ve slowly learned to see myself from God’s view and not my own.

Did you know that God sees you as a masterpiece? Did you know that God created you in His image? Do you know that God loves you no matter what you have done or will do? Do you know that He promises to work everything together for your good – even your silly mistakes? Do you know that He promises to never leave you nor fail you?

There is no love like that!

So no matter where you are, what you’ve done, what you will do – God loves you and will use you. When you feel like you’ve messed up, remember that God promises to finish the good work He started in you.

The fact that you have the drive to become a better woman is Him working on the inside of you. Oftentimes we can think that we’re doing the work on the inside of us but it’s actually His sovereign work taking place.

He will never give up on you. You may want to give up on yourself or everyone else in your life may have counted you out but not God. God is love, He is your Father who has counted the very hairs on your head.

He is filled with grace and mercy waiting to help, restore and reconcile you. Nothing can separate you from His love. Even on your darkest days, He is there with you. Don’t give up on you.
