So you know I’m like all about this “walking in your purpose” life right? But girl, let me tell you that are days where it can get so challenging that I, yes even I, start to doubt whether or not I’m doing what I was created to do.
These are like my monthly breakdown moments LOL! It’s that moment when I have a little cry fest, tell God that it’s too hard and ask Him to send me confirmation that I’m still on the right track.
Oh boy, does He ALWAYS answer within 24-48 hours at most. It’s a cyclical thing that I’ve been doing for the last few years, I kid you not. I’m literally laughing at myself as I write you this…
It’s like clockwork and I’m so thankful for God’s patience with me.
Well, this past weekend, I had one of those moments. I cried for about 15 seconds and decided to call one of my best friends.
She picks up and here I go sobbing…”I just can’t do this anymore!!!!!!!!”
Well by the end of our 30-minute conversation, she did what she always does – encourages me to keep going but this time she included a special revelation that made so much sense!
She says “Maria, this is your pain point. This is the only thing that frustrates you and you keep failing for the same tricks.” The “this” she was referring to was the issue that triggered by I-cant-do-this-anymore-and-I-want-to-quit fit. She then proceeded to tell me that I had about 30 seconds to be in my feelings and she quickly reminded me to hold onto my faith in God.
She was so on point! The same area in my life was being provoked constantly. As a result, I would start to doubt myself and my purpose.
It’s kind of like you have a bully in school that knows that you are insecure about coming from a broken home or your braces and that bully constantly taunts you about it because it he or she knows you’re insecure in that area.
Your bully knows that you may cower or go home crying because he or she knows your weak point until…
You decide to smarten up and fight back!
You might go home and cry for a while, wanting your parents to intervene. As a loving parent, you know that as much as you might want to fight that bully for your child, it may be better in the child’s long-term growth to show your child how to defend and stand up for themselves.
This is what God desires of you. There may be a situation or situations that are constantly getting “bullied” in your life. It could be your finances, job, business, relationships, marriage, health or mindset.
Let’s use the example of money. Your bully knows that not having enough money is your pain point. That bully decides to taunt you. You never have enough money and you HATE it, it makes you feel horrible. You keep crying out to God for help and it’s only getting worse.
It’s not that God doesn’t want to answer you. He wants to see if you’re going to allow the bully to taunt you and win or are you going to fight back with faith in Him. Like no matter what this bully throws your way or lie he tries to put in your mind, you are fully convinced that you are going to be just fine and God will meet your needs.
When you get to this point…you are going to see what God is made of. He’ll be like a proud Father, saying, “Look at my child fighting back with faith! Now let me show off for her.”
You might be falling for the same tricks because these are areas in your life that you are weak at in which you need to become stronger. The bullies may have come to show you how to strengthen a character trait that you need in order to move onto the next chapter of your life.
What tricks do you keep falling for and how are you going to respond differently this time?
