Hey girl hey!
I’m sure you want to live a life of purpose and meaning…I believe that we all do! I know you’re not really trying to keep showing up to a job that you can’t stand just to pay the bills.
There comes a point in all of our lives where we wonder why on earth am I here?
Or you reach a “blah” point in your career and you feel like something is missing. It starts as a whisper and then that voice gets louder and louder. I know that voice all too well because when I worked in the music industry I just knew I didn’t want to be there anymore but I didn’t know exactly what my next move would be.
You may not know what you want to do but all you know is that the job you currently have isn’t cutting it anymore. As a matter of fact, it might be the source of your misery.
And it may not be about the money either because you might be making decent money, have great benefits and you’re good at what you do but something on the inside of you is telling you that where you are is not where you’re supposed to be.
You want more, you want to feel fulfilled, you want financial security but you want to see a dream fulfilled. You don’t want to be like your parents and report to a job you hate just to pay your bills…you want to operate in your purpose.
So I know there’s all this talk about purpose and I know you want to live a life with meaning but trying to find out what that looks like for you can be a bit much.
Let me hook you up with a major key alert to help you live within your life’s assignment which I learned from my main man and mentor, Bishop TD Jakes.
Whatever you can’t stand you’ve been called to fix…it’s a major of key for a destiny alert!
Let’s say that you can’t stand disorganization, girl you might find a side hustle organizing homes – yes people pay people to organize not only their homes but their lives. You may have a gift of administration and be a phenomenal personal or virtual assistant…sounds like more cash coming your way.
You can’t stand the fact that young girls are trafficked across borders as sex slaves, then you might have been called to start a organization that fights human trafficking. You can’t stand someone looking a hot mess then maybe you’ve been called to be fashion stylist or costume designer.
So instead of taking this week to keep operating in a routine that you can’t stand, ask yourself, “What can’t I stand that I want to help fix?”
You may have to start with trial and error and that’s fine. You can start by volunteering or interning at organizations you may like, setting up a lunch date with someone who already does what you want to do or getting a mentor.
Focus on using the innate gifts, talents and abilities that you already possess and think of how you can use what you’re good at to add value to others. I’m sorry to drop this bomb on you but your purpose is not about you – nope, not at all!
Your purpose is designed for you to add value to other people. Think about it. We get so much benefit from people who are operating in their purpose and we are expected to reciprocate that into the world.
For instance, you know you have that ONE person that you trust with your hair. You know that you’ll wait hours for your hairstylist to work on your mane. Why? Because you know that she’s incredible at what she does and she leaves you looking like a new woman every time. Homegirl is simply using her gifts to serve you – she is operating in her purpose. I’m sure she probably can’t stand seeing women’s hair looking a mess either – so she has been called to help fix that problem.
She adds value to your life so how can you add value to the lives of others around you? So here’s my challenge for you today…make a list of 5 things you can’t stand that you want to help fix and then I want you to do something super major that I did the other day.
I want you to set your top 10 goals for the next 12-16 months. I want you to identify what’s priority in your life from now to the end of 2018. This will help you gain clarity, develop inspiration and give you a destination.
Yep, we’re taking it up a notch! Major corporations are already finished with 2017, plans for 2018 are already in full throttle. So if companies can run their businesses as such, why don’t we do the same? I’m almost certain that people like Mark Cuban, Joel Osteen, Oprah Winfrey and Mark Zuckerberg already have their 2017 and 2018 goals on deck – all successful people are goal-driven so you’re in good company!
My Goals School is available to help you get you all in the flow of your purpose too.
Get started and get the fixing!
